Patient Flow
Overview
Our client is a teaching hospital with wards, emergency, theatres, pharmacy and billing spread across its campus. Management used to see the picture once a day, if at all.
We designed and built Patient Flow: beds, emergency queues, theatres, discharges and revenue on one live board, updated by staff at the bedside.
The chief medical director sees where patients are waiting and why, as it happens, on web and mobile.
The problem
Bed status is kept on whiteboards and in ward books. Admissions wait for beds that are actually free but not yet released. Management sees the picture once a day, if at all.
How it works
A live bed board. Every bed in every ward, updated by nurses from a tablet at the bedside.
Discharges that do not stall. Each discharge shows what it is waiting for, pharmacy, billing or a doctor's sign-off, so the bottleneck is visible.
Queues and theatres. Emergency arrivals, waiting times and theatre schedules in one place.
Revenue in view. Daily collections across NHIS and private patients, tied to the services delivered.
